Type 3B And 4 Transition From Walking To Wheelchair
Can you share a bit about how the transition went for you over time? For example, I have difficulty standing from a seated position, but will I continue to be able to stand? I'm thinking about what sort of transfer I might be capable of long-term. Have you maintained arm strength? It not, what limitations have you encountered?
That will be needed down the line but for now I'm able to walk short distances and manage self-care. I'm trying to get a sense for the sequence of events in the future.
Hi Mandy,
I’ve always had difficulty getting up from a chair. I tried to use chairs with arms to push up from, then I eventually got a lifting recliner or try to sit on high chairs like stools. I was able to walk and stand without aids until I started to have injuries. First I used a cane after a knee injury then a walker after a hip fracture and surgery. I use a scooter outside but a walker in the house. This year I sustained 2 more injuries. I fractured my femur and four months later I Fractured my tibia and fibula but I’m still walking with my walker. Everyone has a different journey but the important thing is to maintain mobility as long as you can do it safely. That’s why I use my scooter outside.
Over the last 4 years my arms have gotten weaker. It’s difficult to raise my arms up. I have a hard time putting my hair up.
I have type 3 and I’m 60 years old. Hope this helps you.
So sorry to hear you are going through this. Have you thought of getting some type of health aid to help you? Good luck ❤️
I use to get my food and my husband and I use to cook on
The weekend before I found out that I had sma.
Now it's not easy to do anything but I try and do anything else but cry after I get done cleaning or anything else.
My husband and I had a wonderful life together and he just passed away and I feel lost without him we're 74 and now no one will take me anywhere if I ask they're always too busy to do anything for me.
I haven't been able to go to Walmart yet and it's been 9yr's
I just stay in my room and cry about the way they're doing this too me.
All I say is God Bless them and
Hope it doesn't happen to them One day.
Then they would understand how I felt .
This is super helpful. I do have a history of falls and breaks, but no breaks in the past 10 years. I am ridiculously careful, but even so I do fall on occasion. Can I ask how many copies you have?
I Have Had 3 Falls In 5 Days. My Legs Collapse Without Warning And I Crash To The Ground. I Am Frightened. I Don’t Know What To Do.
Transfer To Shower Chair
Any Idea When Risdipalm Is Going To Be Available To Type 4 And Does Anyone Regret Taking In Past?
